How many "active" members have to share that equipment that do "not" own a
glider or have a share in one?
17 years ago for a period of 4 years used to belong to a club of 35 and
maybe 25 active members.
We had a twin Grob, single Grob a Blanik and 2 Schweitzer trainers
including a 180HP Scout. Of the active members 5 owned gliders
The net result was that 20 people share the equipment.
The ratio at that time was 4 pilots to one Gliders.

Nice ratio!

Let's see... Our club has:

1 1-34
1 Grob 103
3 Centrair 101 Pegasus
1 DG-1000

and roughly 75 members. I'd guess that 60% are "active" and 6 or so of
them own their own ships but stay in the club for access to the dual
seat ships.

We'd like to replace that Grob 103 soon. That's when the really fun
debate starts. :-)

In our club:
Approx. 90 pilots
9 single seaters (LS4 or better)
3 double seaters (ASK21, DG500, DG1000)
1 motorglider
and a couple of privately owned gliders (about 10)

The important point is that, on weekends, with very few exceptions,
there are enough gliders that every pilot who wants to go cross country
can take one for the whole day.
